EU-China Multipliers

SPICE aims at exploiting the existing potential for cooperation in the ICT R&D sector between the P.R. of China and the European Union, to collect and distribute knowledge about promising ICT areas, actors, competencies, geographic important areas, and needs; and to support the dissemination of the achieved knowledge. It will provide a better understanding on both sides. The European Commission, Chinese authorities, as well as "multipliers" benefit from SPICE.

The European Union benefits from S&T cooperation with China in many ways: R&D cooperation supports political and economic goals, and helps in gaining access to the huge market. China on the other side can profit from the access to advanced technologies, the knowledge of highly skilled scientists and researchers, financial support and strengthened political ties. Both parties can increase their international competitiveness by ways of international collaboration.

European and Chinese S&T Parks or organisers of large conferences can also benefit by taking full advantages of the opportunities and platforms generated from this project. SPICE offers S&T Parks and their related organisations new opportunities in terms of research cooperation and funding. Future ICT cooperation between China and Europe is blessed with promising prospects against the backdrop of globalization and the booming Chinese economy as well as rapid European research development. Great potentials can be tapped in shared priority fields like IC, remote sensing, communications, software, and IT applications.
